Romania to provide Moldova with support in justice reform process

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - Justice Minister of Moldova Sergiu Litvinenco and the state secretary at the Justice Ministry of Romania, George Catalin Serban, signed the third action plan in the justice sector today in Chisinau, following the joint meeting of the governments of Moldova and Romania.

The action plan was worked out, taking into account Romania’s experience in the process of reforming the justice, as well as the needs of Moldova for the reform of the justice system, fight against the big corruption and consolidation of the rule of law state.

„Now, more than ever, we need the friendly support of Romania for the systemic reforms, especially in justice. As the citizens of Moldova deserve to benefit from the really European standards in everything which means justice and rule of law state, living conditions, medical, social and educational services,’’ Minister Sergiu Litvinenco said.  

Under the Plan, more actions are envisaged for the next three years, which are to be carried out jointly by the Justice Ministry of Moldova and Justice Ministry of Romania, such as: exchange of good practices and information in the field of record and analysis of judicial statistics as to the activity of law courts; joint actions of cooperation in terms of prevention and combating corruption and organized crime; taking over good practices and providing technical support to the penitentiary system of Moldova, especially on aspects dealing with the assessment of the functionality of the penitentiary administration system, assimilating good practices of management of resources, automation and digitalization of processes within the penitentiary administration system, through the use of advanced technologies, working out of the programme on reducing violence in penitentiaries; providing administrative assistance to the probation system.
