More Moldovan-Romanian agreements signed in communications, road, energy sectors

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - More agreements for the development of the communication, road and energy infrastructure were signed at the joint meeting of the governments of Moldova and Romania in Chisinau today.    

Thus, Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu and Foreign Affairs Minister of Romania Bogdan Lucian Aurescu signed the agreement on the construction of the border road bridge across the Prut river, due between the settlements Ungheni from Romania and Ungheni of Moldova.  

The government of Romania will ensure the financing of the works of construction of the bridge and the access road, including the infrastructure related, placed on the territory of Romania. The overall sum was estimated at 40 million euros. At the same time, the building of the access road and the infrastructure related on the side of Moldova will be financed by the Moldovan government, with a cost estimated at two million euros.  

Also, at the ceremony, the sides signed the bilateral agreement on the rehabilitation of the border road bridge across the Prut river between the settlements Giurgiulesti (Moldova) and Galati (Romania), the works on which are close to the end. The value of the investments is of about 8 million Romanian lei, provided fully by the Romania’s government.  

At the same time, Andrei Spinu and Romania’s Energy Minister Virgil Daniel Popescu signed the memorandum of understanding between the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR) and the Energy Ministry of Romania on cooperation in the energy security sector.    

The memorandum provides for cooperation, in order to prevent and manage crisis situations in the supply with electric energy and natural gas of the markets of Romania and Moldova.

The document establishes the elaboration, in a period of six months after the Memorandum’s signing, of a joint action plan in case of energy crisis. The plan will be enforced by the joint working group in the energy field within the joint inter-governmental commission for Moldovan-Romanian cooperation. The group’s leadership will be provided jointly (through co-chairmanship) by the two countries, at the level of state secretary.    

Also today, the sides signed the agreement on the cutting of the tariffs for the supply of international roaming services and the services of international calls between Moldova and Romania. The document was signed by Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu and Research, Innovation and Digitalization Minister of Romania Ioan Marcel Bolos.  

Following the implementation, users from Moldova, while being in roaming in Romania, will be able to benefit, within the limit of a reasonable use, from voice, internet and SMS services at tariffs close to the national ones.
