Moldovan-Russian inter-ministerial political consultations held in Chisinau

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) today hosted an ordinary round of Moldovan-Russian inter-ministerial consultations, in accordance with earlier agreements. The Moldovan delegation was led by state secretary Ruslan Bolbocean and the Russian one - by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Andrey Rudenko, the MAEIE press service has reported.     

The participants in the consultations considered a wide range of subjects on the agenda of the bilateral relations, which regard the present stage and perspectives for the development of the political dialogue, commercial and economic cooperation, as well as of the interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.  

The interlocutors confirmed both sides’ willingness for continuously strengthening the dialogue at various levels, in order to provide dynamic for cooperation in the fields of mutual interest. In the context, the sides highlighted the importance of joint efforts, in order to advance on bilateral files, especially the unfinished ones.

The officials referred to the importance of the platform of the Moldovan-Russian inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation, the agenda of which contains more topical subjects in the bilateral relations. In this respect, the sides stressed interest in the organization of an ordinary meeting of the Commission on the next period. 

State Secretary Ruslan Bolbocean emphasized the importance of giving final touches to the subject on the social protection of the Moldovans from Russia. He confirmed the Moldovan side’s full willingness to sign the inter-state agreement on social security.   

During his visit to Moldova, Russian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Andrey Rudenko was also received by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister.  

The diplomats exchanged opinions on the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and expressed common interest in resuming the negotiations in the 5+2 format.

Also, Nicu Popescu reiterated the Moldovan side’s position on the need to resume the process of withdrawal of the Russian troops and evacuation/destruction of ammunitions stocked at the military depot from Cobasna. In this respect, the Moldovan minister confirmed the country’s willingness for interaction on the aforementioned subjects.     

A special subject of the discussions regarded the latest developments as to the regional security. The Moldovan diplomacy head stressed the importance of identifying political solutions based on dialogue and avoiding any scenarios and military actions. Nicu Popescu pointed out the importance of the strict observance of the fundamental norms and principles of the international law, based on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states from the region.
