Chisinau, 16 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- The Superior Council of Prosecutors, the colleges and the Inspectorate of Prosecutors could be reorganized. The issue was discussed yesterday by Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco and representatives of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases.

The official said that improving the mechanism of disciplinary liability of judges and prosecutors is one of the objectives of the Strategy for ensuring the independence and integrity of the justice sector for the years 2022-2025. "Our efforts are focused on building a justice system with independent, impartial, accountable, honest and professional judges and prosecutors. Therefore, the analysis of the situation, together with the representatives of the key institutions, will help us to identify effective levers for increasing the responsibility of prosecutors, while ensuring their independence ", said Litvinenco.

Following the discussions, it was agreed to initiate the procedure for amending the legislation on the prosecutor's office, in order to improve the mechanisms for disciplinary liability of prosecutors.
