Chisinau, Feb. 22 / MOLDPRES /- The Declaration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, with the following content, was forwarded to MOLDPRES:

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration strongly condemns the recognition by the Russian Federation of the 'independence' of the separatist entities in the eastern regions of Ukraine. This decision was preceded by a campaign of politico-military pressure on Ukraine and destabilizing actions in the conflict zone.

Recognition calls into question any prospect of a political solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine and will have far-reaching negative consequences. We regret that the Russian Federation has chosen to violate the principles and rules of international law. We hope that this development will not provoke a new wave of military hostilities at the contact line.

The ministry reiterates firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, within its internationally recognized borders. "
