Prosecutors raided several locations in Moldova

Chisinau, Feb. 22 / MOLDPRES /- Law enforcement officers are conducting searches this morning in a criminal case of fraud with agricultural products, implemented last summer and autumn.
According to the PCCOCS, the searches are taking place at several addresses in the country with the support of Fulger employees. Among the locations searched are two penitentiaries. Thus, during the raids, sums of money, bank cards, mobile phones, drafts, stamps used to commit the investigated crimes, as well as accounting documents were seized.
The criminal scheme is based on three companies in the agricultural field, which acted in a coordinated manner, and among its organizers are also persons in detention, including those sentenced to life imprisonment. Two of these companies were founded in 2021 and had former inmates as administrators; the third company had a longer history of activity, but during the investigation, law enforcement officers found that it was operating on the basis of a forged stamp.
Thus, in the summer of last year, the organizers formed a call center that identified companies in the agricultural field that were showing interest in selling agricultural products. Subsequently, the organizers of the scheme collected agricultural products from economic agents, with the commitment to pay them over the next few days. However, immediately after obtaining the goods, they sold it to other economic agents, without paying the farmers.
In this case, the law enforcement officers started 25 criminal cases, which were connected in one. During the investigation, eight people were detained, in respect of whom the PCCOCS prosecutors will submit requests for pre-trial detention. Another seven people under investigation are being detained and will be temporarily transferred to another penitentiary. Earlier, three other people were detained and detained in the same case. Thus, the file includes over 20 people investigated for scams against the 25 economic agents, who were harmed by over seven million lei.
