Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today held a news briefing, during which she called on the residents to calm and informed that the state’s institutions were mobilized. She reiterated that Chisinau firmly supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

In her speech, the head of state urged the citizens to avoid travels to the eastern region of Ukraine and condemned the hostile actions against this country.

“There is dialogue even in the tensest moments. The actions we see in Ukraine find fertile ground for fear, hatred and quarrel. In Moldova, we have different visions on the security crisis in the region and this is only normal. I demand that the state’s institutions attentively monitor the propagandistic information and I call on the news editorial offices to verify the sources of information,’’ Sandu noted.

The Moldovan president specified that, for the moment, the authorities’ goal was to maintain the calm and security of the citizens. ‘’We have received assurances of support on behalf of all development partners and we keep a close eye on the situation in the region. We will support Ukraine and the regional crisis must not hit the institutions’ work. We will consolidate the democracy and will work to provide the citizens with a European future,’’ Maia Sandu said.
