Bashkan met with new US Ambassador to Moldova

Chisinau, Feb. 23 / MOLDPRES /- Gagauz Governor Irina Vlah met today with Kent Doyle Logsdon, United States Ambassador to Moldova. This is the first meeting of the US diplomat in the territory since the beginning of term.

During the meeting, the bashkan informed the ambassador about the problems and challenges facing the Gagauz autonomy, the priorities of the region in the development of socio-economic infrastructure.

"The main issues that threaten the sustainable development of our country are the flow of young people and declining birth rates. Our priorities are the industrialization of the economy and the development of the IT sector. We must create opportunities for our young people to find the desired job and talent "We also need to invest in improving living standards in all villages and towns," said Vlah.

According to the governor, "today the Republic of Moldova needs intellectual assistance from development partners no less than material assistance." "We must learn to use our rights wisely and unite to build a better future." Irina Vlah said.
