Moldovan president, extra-parliamentary parties' representatives discuss situation in region, in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - The current situation in Moldova, in the context of the war in Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis triggered by it, was the subject of a today’s discussion between President Maia and representatives of extra-parliamentary parties.  

According to the presidential press service, the head of state referred to the actions undertaken by the authorities to ensure the security of Moldova’s citizens and for providing assistance to the refugees from Ukraine.   

President Maia Sandu asked the participants in the discussion to contribute to the effort of the society’s consolidation through rejecting and discouraging the discourse of hatred and misinformation, which divides the society. Also, the head of state spoke about the need of a joint effort, including through the involvement of party networks and local authorities, in order to provide support to refugees, in the context of the increase in their number.   

The parties’ representatives backed the necessity of a joint effort to ensure unity and peace in the society; they also made concrete proposals of improving processes and showed interest in cooperating with the authorities for a better coordination of the actions of helping the refugees.

Attending the meeting were the leaders of the Civic Congress, Democracy at Home Party, Party of Moldova’s Development and Consolidation, Democratic Party, Liberal Democratic Party, Our Party, Dignity and Truth Platform Party, Party of Change, Ecologist Green Party.
