Agreement with Romania on 100 million euro - assistance, one on construction of border bridge to be discussed in Moldovan parliament

Chisinau, March 2 / MOLDPRES /- Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Moldova and Romania on the implementation of the technical and financial assistance program based on a financial assistance of 100 million euros will be presented in the plenary of the Parliament for ratification.

Today, the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance approved the draft law for ratification of the agreement, which will be voted in plenary and enter into force upon publication in the Official Journal of Moldova.

The financial assistance of 100 million euros is non-reimbursable and will be used for the implementation of projects that will contribute to the development of Moldova for the direct benefit of the citizens. Thus, the fields are targeted: energy, transport, environment, infrastructure, small business, media independence, public administration reform, health, culture, tourism. The funds will be offered for a period of seven years.

The agreement also involves the financial contribution provided by the Republic of Moldova, which may not be less than 5% of the eligible expenses for each project.

Also during today's meeting, the Economy, Budget and Finance Committee unanimously approved the report on the draft law for the ratification of another Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and that of Romania.

The document defines the technical, financial, legal and organizational aspects related to the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the border road bridge between the two states, over the Prut River, between Ungheni (Moldova) and Ungheni (Romania).
