National Bank of Moldova urges citizens to get information from official, reliable sources

Chisinau, 9 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) urges the citizens to be informed from official and reliable sources, in order to avoid the taking of momentary decisions, which can be unwise, against the background of emotions.

According to the institution, the truthful information on the banking sector can be found on BNM’s webpage, as well as on the websites of those 11 licenced banks from Moldova, which provide details also about the current exchange operations.  

BNM reconfirms that Moldova’s banking sector remains strong and has pretty big reserves, including in euros and dollars. Also, Moldova has currency reserves, in order to ensure the financial stability in eventual crisis situations.  

„There is no reason for concern and the commercial banks gave assurances that the money of depositors are preserved in safety, providing the full spectrum of financial services and products to their clients,’’ the National Bank said.

At the same time, BNM reiterates that it keeps a close eye on the developments taking place both locally and internationally and, if necessary, it is ready to intervene with measures in the favour of Moldova’s residents.
