Moldovan, Romanian prime ministers discuss situation in region, bilateral agenda

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and her Romanian counterpart Nicolae Ciuca have had a working meeting in Chisinau. The two officials discussed the security situation in the region, management of the flow of refugees who flee the war and the support provided to the Moldovan cabinet to manage the crisis, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

Natalia Gavrilita thanked for the generous and solid support on behalf of Romania, in order to supply the assistance for the refugees, to open the green corridor at the Moldovan-Romanian border, as well as for the transport means needed for the people refugees for transiting Moldova from the Palanca customs checkpoint to Husi, Romania. Also, the prime minister thanked for the assistance provided by the Romanian side for free: quantities of petrol, diesel and crude oil, which will considerably reduce the impact of the crisis in the energy sector.     

One of the subjects tackled at the meeting was also Moldova’s energy security and the process of energy interconnection with Romania. The discussions took place in the context when Moldova and Romania on 16 March finished the process of synchronization to the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E).  

The officials discussed also other subjects on the bilateral agenda, including projects agreed upon on 11 February at a joint meeting of the two governments. In the context, the Romanian PM reiterated the support of its government in the carrying out of the reforms necessary for Moldova’s rapprochement with the European Union.
