Moldovan police launch information campaign on thefts of bicycles

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau city hall and the capital’s Police Department today launched an campaign of informing and raising the awareness of the citizens, titled, Stop thefts of bicycles!.
At a news briefing held in the Roses Valley Park today, the deputy head of the Moldovan capital’s police, Alexei Grosu, said that 62 bicycles had been stolen since early 2022 till present. ‘’This is a tripling of the number of thefts. Last year, 20 bicycles were stolen in the first three months,’’ Grosu noted.
At the same time, the leader of the community, Chisinau – a protected city, Alexandru Costandoglu, said he would provide information support to the Police Department to quickly discover the thefts of bicycles. The community, Chisinau – a protected city, will make available to cyclists all zones where there are video cameras; thus, they will be able to park their bicycles there, knowing that the transport means will be certainly protected,’’ Costandoglu said.
According to the deputy head of the Chisinau police, the information campaign will last one month and the participants will hold a news conference at the end of it.
