Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/ - A new meeting of the political representatives in the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement on behalf of Chisinau, Oleg Serebrian and on behalf of Tiraspol, Vitaly Ignatyev, took place at the headquarters of the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol today, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

At the meeting, Chisinau re-tackled the issue of farmers from the Dubasari district, with an urge to undertake possible efforts to solve the difficulties they face, providing free access to farmlands, including on the period of carrying out of seasonal works and tilling farmlands, as well as ensuring the unconditional implementation of the protocol Decision from 25 November 2017 and without deadlines.

The subject on the free movement was paid special attention; Oleg Serebrian stressed the inter-connectivity of this issue with a great deal of the problems faced by the citizens in the process of movement to settlements from the Transnistrian region, the need to remove the current obstacles and ensure the free movement for all categories of people, just as the movement is taking place with no obstacles on the right bank of Dniester and through the state border checkpoints.

Chisinau’s political representative reiterated the subject of the Latin-script schools and indispensability to hold the education process according to the present exigencies, with the endowment of these schools with proper headquarters and supply with the needed facilities. Serebrian gave the example of the Lucian Blaga theoretical lyceum from Tiraspol, which does not have its own sports hall, hall for festivities and a canteen.

The sides discussed measures of support provided on both banks of Dniester, for the temporary accommodation of Ukrainian refugees in placement centres and in private locations. The Tiraspol side expressed interest in benefitting from forms of humanitarian assistance provided by international donors to Moldova to this end.

Tiraspol’s political representative highlighted the subject of the imports of various categories of goods, made by economic agents from the region and which, as a result of the suspension of the work of the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border crossing points, ensure the introduction of the concerned goods through Moldova’s customs checkpoints. The Chisinau side reiterated that no impediments were recorded in the process; the authorization and customs clearance take place in accordance with the provisions of the national legislation in force, with the region being supplied with food products, medicines and needed use goods.

The chief negotiators accepted that, on the near period, the sides re-launch the activity of more sectoral working groups (on economic issues, motor transport, healthcare, banking issues, etc.) in order to discuss the topical issues at the level of specialists. The Chisinau side made a proposal to establish new forms of technical dialogue, such as the creation of working groups in the field of tourism and cultural heritage.
