Chisinau, April 2 / MOLDPRES /- The Moldovan government today sent first installment of humanitarian aid package worth 24million lei (1.2million euros) to Ukraine, based on a decision approved by the Commission for Emergencies, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Today, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița traveled to the Ukrainian city of Mohyliv-Podilsky to convey aid to Vinnytsia Governor Sergei Borzov.

"This help is a gesture of support from the people of the Republic of Moldova for the Ukrainian people. From the first day of the war, the whole society mobilized to help the thousands of people who took refuge in our country. Although the Republic of Moldova has enough problems, we consider it absolutely necessary to help our Ukrainian neighbors who are going through an extremely difficult period ", said Gavrilița.

"From the 16,000 internal affairs employees, rescuers, firefighters, police officers, we sent a message of encouragement to our colleagues in Ukraine. Those who are now fighting for peace can be reassured for their families, who are in Moldova, for their children, for those who are just taking their first steps and for those who are learning their first words. For all of us, the word "Peace" is supreme. From the little we have, we will help with everything in our power", Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco said.

The batch includes stocks provided by the following institutions:

- Ministry of Labor and Social Protection: bed linen, hygiene sets for women and children, disinfectant, beds, diapers and bath sets, as well as unalterable food products, worth about 430 thousand euros;

- General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations: family hygiene sets, sleeping bags, mattresses, blankets, pillows, gloves and surgical masks and other goods, worth over 230 thousand euros;

- Ministry of Health: medicines, consumables and medical equipment, in the amount of over 150 thousand euros;
