Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ - European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi has handed Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu the European Commission’s questionnaire on the application on Moldova’s accession to the EU. The answers due to be given to the questions from this questionnaire will represent the radiography of the current situation in Moldova, showing the level of preparation for accession to the European Union and, at the same time, will highlight the sectors where additional efforts are necessary, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.

„Moldova speeds up its European integration. I reiterated that we are part of Europe not only geographically, but also through the identity we bear, the values we share, through the Romanian language, the EU’s official language, which we speak and through the common history which we have,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.

The Moldovan diplomacy head stressed that, starting the moment of the file’s reception, a period of intense work comes next, noting that the state’s institutions were prepared to provide the information needed in the nearest time. At the same time, the Moldovan official informed about the involvement not only of the authorities, but also of the civil society in the process of filling in the questionnaire, taking into account that the accession to the European Union represents a country project, which regards the future of any citizen.

„We will prove, once again, that we are a country where the democracy works, the reforms are possible, the transformation processes yield results and our European future is irreversible,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
