Modovan meteorologists announced yellow frost code

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/- The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced a yellow frost code for April 12-13.

According to meteorologists, at night and in the morning during the reference period, isolated in the northern half of the country, frosts are expected on the ground and in the air with an intensity of -1 ..- 2 ° С.

SHS specialists said that during April, the values ​​of the average daily air temperature can oscillate in the territory between -1 ..- 6ºC (1963) and +22 .. + 25ºC (2012, 2013). The minimum value of the air temperature for the entire observation period in April is -14.2ºC (Soroca, April 4, 1963), and the maximum is + 32.5ºC (Falesti, April 29, 2012).

In the second month of spring, frosts in the air are possible in the country on average until April 20, and on the ground - until the end of the month, but in some years they can be reported in May.

"In the spring, frosts or hail may be a danger to farmers. Climate change has severely affected the natural cycle. But the frosts are especially catastrophic at the end of April - beginning of May, especially for fruit growing. At that time, the trees are already with the fruit formed, the vegetation process is almost complete, or, in case of possible temperatures of 2-3 degrees below zero, the fruit will be completely compromised ", sources of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry said.

The forecast frosts will also affect the thermal values ​​during the day. Thus, in the next period, the mercury of the thermometers will rise up to 18 degrees Celsius. It will usually be warmer in the south and 2-3 degrees colder in the north. In most parts of the country, precipitation is not expected, except in some central and southern districts, where on April 13, short-term rains are expected in isolation.

Starting Friday, April 15, the weather will be even colder.
