Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/ - The National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) has warned farmers and bee keepers about the need to mutually communicate, in order to avoid cases of bees’ intoxications, triggered by phyto-sanitary products.

The institution warned the agricultural producers, bee-keepers and local authorities about the need to register the apiary at the local public authority, as well as to inform farmers working in the concerned region about the presence of his/her apiary, so that he/she could subsequently be notified in due time about the agricultural work scheduled, which would involve the use of phyto-sanitary products toxic for bees.

„We warn private people and legal entities, who are set to use phyto-sanitary products, that they bear responsibility and, according  to the legislation, they must present to the local public administration the schedule of lands’ treatment and inform, seven days before the launch of the works at the earliest, showing concretely the date and hour of the works’ starting and completion, the way of treatment, name of the preparation and the concentration of its administering, degree of noxiousness, etc.,’’ ANSA said.

Also, the local public administrations are oblige to post in due time in public places the notifications received and to inform the registered bee-keepers about this. ‘’If cases of bees’ death are recorded, owners of apiaries are to immediately notify local public authorities, veterinary physicians or territorial subdivision for food safety. The Agency is willing to provide the support needed for bee-keepers, if necessary,’’ ANSA press release also reads.
