Moldovan deputy PM discusses with Ukraine's special representative for Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian today had a video conversation with Ukraine’s Special Representative for Transnistrian Settlement Yuri Klimenko, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.  

The officials exchanged information and opinions on a wide range of aspects regarding the Transnistria-related problems, dynamic of the process of negotiations, perspectives for their promotion. Klimenko reconfirmed the firm support on behalf of Ukraine for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict with the observance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, within the limits of the country’s internationally recognized borders.     

The sides also tackled the regional situation, in the context of the security vulnerabilities and risks triggered by the war in Ukraine. The officials emphasized the current concerns, the need to prevent destabilizing actions and re-establish the atmosphere of peace and security. Oleg Serebrian and Yuri Klimenko also evoked the indispensability of constantly and usefully coordinating the measures of common interest, including with the involvement of relevant international partners.     

The officials expressed willingness to permanently communicate and promote a productive dialogue on diverse priority aspects and of mutual interest.
