Chisinau, May 19 / MOLDPRES /- Several amendments to the Law on Social Assistance will be published tomorrow in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.

Among the objectives of the project is to stimulate the employment of social assistance beneficiaries, who are able to work, by gradually reducing the amount of social assistance and limiting the duration of their stay in the social assistance program. The changes also provide for an increase in the number of families with children that can be included in the social assistance program by increasing the minimum guaranteed monthly income for each child, but also the income eligibility ceiling for employees with children.

The new law sees that the right to social assistance and / or social assistance during the cold period of the year will be able to benefit disadvantaged families, who take care of children up to the age of seven (previously the age of three was provided) and a separate minimum guaranteed monthly income for children will be established for adults.

The project also aims to increase the protection of people with severe disabilities, thus increasing the minimum guaranteed monthly income for children with severe disabilities from 50 to 60 percent, and for adults from 30 to 50 percent.

The new changes provide for the inclusion of day laborers in the social assistance program and encourage them to work legally, by offering the right to social assistance to agricultural workers and ignoring their income when establishing the right to social assistance.

The presidential decree on the promulgation of the document will be published in the same issue of the Official Journal. This law shall enter into force on October 1.
