Over 400 cases of enteroviral infections reported in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, June 6 / MOLDPRES /- Over 400 cases of enteroviral infections were reported in the capital last week. The announcement was made today by the head of the General Directorate of Medical and Social Assistance of Chisinau, Boris Gilca, in the operative meeting of the municipal services.

The infectious diseases are characteristic for the summer period. "These are enteroviral infections, food poisoning and salmonellosis. According to statistics, 80% of cases are registered among children. Therefore, we warn parents and food service providers to be careful and to observe prophylactic measures ", said Boris Gîlca.

Enteroviral infections are a group of acute infectious diseases whose viruses are the causative agents. Contamination can occur through the air or orally, through water, food or dirty hands. Symptoms of infection include diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, fever, headache, lethargy and apathy. Most often, they affect children up to 6 years old, in the spring-autumn period.
