Chisinau, 6 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will host a joint meeting of the parliaments from Chisinau and Bucharest. Statements to this effect were made at a today’s joint news conference held by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and President of the Romanian Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The meeting of the two parliament is a first ever event and will be held in June. ‘’I am happy that the meeting will take place in Chisinau. This is a strong message of support of the current governance from Moldova, a message about what we can do together, in order to enhance the cooperation in such sectors as infrastructure, energy, investments, health, education or culture,’’ Speaker Igor Grosu said.

The parliament speaker thanked his Romanian counterpart for the support provided by Romania to Moldova during time, as well as in the new regional context. ‘’Romania has always been with Moldova, helping us to easier overcome diverse crises and to carry out important projects for our country. Romania is the most important friend of Moldova in the European integration process and I rely on you, Mr. president, to help us make concrete progress for our European perspective from the state and political positions you have,’’ Igor Grosu noted.

For his part, President of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu  reiterated that Moldova’s place was in the European Union. ‘’There is no other way of development for Moldova but joining the EU. Romania   does not make a favour for Moldova; it has the duty to help Moldova for this entire path,’’ Ciolacu stressed.

The president of the Chamber of Deputies also said, following the  today’s discussion, and especially after the joint meeting of the two legislative bodies, the European and parliamentary dimension would  enter another logic. ‘’I have come with a delegation with people with expertise in the field and we hope that, on a next period, we will speed up the cooperation on this parliamentary dimension. Moldova goes through a period of transition, of adjusting its legislation to the European Union’s one, a thing carried out by Romania a long time ago. It is to be  regretted, if we do not work together in the legislation sector, so that we are as efficient as possible and enhance the pace, so that Moldova becomes a full-fledged member of EU,’’ President Marcel Ciolacu said.

The subject on the boosting of the economic cooperation was also on the agenda of the discussions between the two parliament speakers. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu stressed that, through the joint border control, the authorities were set to make easier the work of the carriers, who presently have a key role in backing the supply regionally.
