Moldovan president meets delegation of Romanian Parliament's Chamber of Deputies

Chisinau, 6 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met a delegation of the Romanian Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies, led by President of the Chamber of Deputies Ion-Marcel Ciolacu. The discussion was focused on the difficult regional situation, emerged in the wake of the war in Ukraine, as well as on the bilateral agenda, the presidential press service has reported.  

The head of state thanked for the support provided to Moldova during years, including for the non-refundable assistance worth 100 million euros, agreed upon at a joint meeting of the Moldovan and Romanian governments from last February and the 10 million euros, announced at the Berlin Conference from April 2022.   

The Romanian delegation members expressed support for Moldova’s European aspirations, noting that there was a consensus of all political forces for Moldova’s European integration in Romania at present.  

President Maia Sandu said that Moldova wanted to continue the good cooperation with Romania, especially through projects in the field of transport infrastructure, of the ones due to strengthen the country’s energy security or to bring new investments. The head of state also asked for the as quick as possible intervention of the Bucharest authorities, in order to de-block and ease the traffic of goods at the Moldovan-Romanian border, where there are presently kilometers-long queues of trucks because of the ceasing of the traditional transport routes.
