Chisinau, June 7 / MOLDPRES /- Rescuers recommend bathing only in lakes equipped with rescue stations, where they can monitor the safety and security situation.

Press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) Liliana Pușcașu said that about 20 water pools in the country are equipped with rescue stations, of which 10 are located in Chisinau. "IGSU employees do not recommend bathing in unauthorized places, places that are not equipped with rescue stations, as they present an increased danger for both minors and adults," said Puscasu.

In summer, IGSU carries out a series of drowning prevention campaigns. "The activity aims to prevent and avoid accidents and drownings in lakes and rivers in the country. It also aims to protect people and make them responsible for safety and security in recreational areas. Thus, IGSU employees will systematically walk on the beaches of water pools to inform people who are resting about the risks of bathing in unauthorized places "said Liliana Pușcașu.

According to IGSU data, in total, in the Republic of Moldova there are 3600 lakes and ponds that are not for recreational use and where bathing is not indicated. Last year, during the summer, 56 people died in the country's water pools.
