Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has met representatives of the Moldovan Diaspora from France, during his working visit to Paris, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service reported.

„I confirmed to our fellow countrymen that we presently make all political and diplomatic efforts for the recognition of driver’s licences, as well as for the negotiation of the agreement on social security - a subject tackled by President Maia Sandu at a meeting she had with French President Emmanuel Macron,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.

At the discussions, Deputy PM Nicu Popescu informed that the authorities planned to supply the Paris-based consular office with staff and that the consular taxes would be cut by a half starting from 1 January 2023.

The Moldovan official noted that the draft law on the providing of fiscal and customs facilities to people willing to return to live in Moldova was already in parliament. At the same time, the parliament has already started the procedures also for the setting up of a working group due to speed up the finding of solutions for a more efficient interaction with the Diaspora, as well as for the successful involvement of the people who are currently abroad in the life from Moldova.

„I am looking forward to see each other again at the Diaspora Days, traditionally organized in late August,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu added.
