Chisinau, June 16 / MOLDPRES /- The National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) warned today about the need to control ragweed weeds and the risk associated with neglecting it.

"During this period we need to be aware of the importance of a responsible attitude in order to reduce the danger caused by the emergence of ambrosia weed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia), a problem frequently addressed by the Agency, given that it is one of the most invasive plants in our country. , extremely adaptable even in conditions of drought and heat, which has determined that in recent years droughts to develop very quickly and to cover large areas ", indicates ANSA.

According to the institution, the major negative impact of weeds affects human health, the pollen of this plant, carried by the wind, causing pollinosis (allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, asthma, urticaria contact lesions) in late summer - early autumn, being one of the aggravating factors of asthma.

"In order to avoid this impact, it is recommended to destroy the ragweed weed in the period between the emergence of the plant and the appearance of the first inflorescences, respectively until the end of June. In case of recurrence of infestation outbreaks, it is recommended to carry out repeated control works throughout the year, thus avoiding the appearance of inflorescences ", summarizes the National Agency for Food Safety.
