Modern refrigeration deposit inaugurated in west Moldova village

Chisinau, 7 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Darurile Daciei Entrepreneur Cooperative from the Zagarancea village, western Ungheni district, has finished the construction of a refrigeration deposit for the preservation of fruits. The deposit was inaugurated in the presence of more producers from Moldova on 6 July.    

The investment was possible due to the Moldovan Agricultural Competitiveness Project (MAC-P), financed by the World Bank, which provided the cooperative with a grant worth 350,000 dollars. The own contribution of the group of producers stood at 22 million lei (about 1.1 million euros), of which 14 million lei – a loan contracted through Moldova’s Orchard Project.   

The refrigeration deposit has a capacity of 1,050 tons, an overall area of 2,400 square metres. The achievement of the investment goal led to the creation of 20 new jobs at the refrigeration deposit and the packing line.

The Darurile Daciei Entrepreneur Cooperative was set up in early 2020 by 5 founders, whose basic activity was the working of farmlands, including of multiannual plantations. At the moment of registration, the founders were working about 2,600 hectares of farmlands. The structure represents one of those 47 groups of producers, created and financed by the Moldovan Agricultural Competitiveness Project.

The overall value of investments made by the groups of producers financed by MAC-P is over 35 million dollars. The total capacity of the post-harvest infrastructure, created by beneficiaries, is about 39,000 tons.
