Platform for sale of ecologically friendly products launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ - The first platform of online sale of ecologically friendly agro-food products was launched by the Employers’ Association Moldova Organic Value Chain Alliance (MOVCA).   

The platform was created with the support of the Farmer-to-Farmer Programme, financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture Moldova (CNFA Moldova).  

„The Biofood Platform was founded at the request by the MOVCA Association members, in order to facilitate the direct connection between producers and consumers of ecologically friendly products,’’ the executive director of the MOVCA Association, Victoria Ceban, said.  

Over 100 products were presented for commercialization: cereals, fruits, vegetables, honey, seeds, flour, therapeutic and food oils, herb teas, etc.  

According to CNFA Moldova director, Nadejda Mocanu, the setting up of this platform meets the mission of the Farmer-to-Farmer Programme as regards the promotion of sustainable improvements in the food security, as well as in the agricultural processing, production and trade.   

In 2021, the Employers’ Association Moldova Organic Value Chain Alliance  became member of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) – a community of about 800 affiliated entities from over 100 states. MOVCA is the first organization from Moldova to get the status of IFOAM member; thus, Moldova is represented in an international structure in this sector for the first time ever.
