System of processing of animal origin byproducts to be created in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - The authorities today presented a feasibility study on the creation of a system of processing animal origin byproducts, which are not meant for human consumption.   

The study was made by international experts with the financial support of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), member of the World Bank Group. Based on this study, decision-makers will create the system of management of animal origin byproducts in accordance with the international standards, in order to solve the problem of non-conforming removal of animal corpses, slaughter house waste and other types of byproducts.    

„This system is of revolutionary importance for Moldova’s agro-industrial sector. If we want to export, the process will be impossible without such a factory. The structure means performance and progress, which will allow Moldova be a member of the civilized states, where there is actually our place,’’ Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea said.   

A modern system of managing animal origin byproducts, which are not meant for human consumption, will be set up in Criuleni. The creation of the system of management of animal origin byproducts will take place within the Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project (MAC-P).  

So far, important investments have been carried with the support of MAC-P in the modernization of the national food safety system and the national legislation in the sector was adjusted to the European Union’s norms. At the same time, the laboratories of testing the health of plants and quality of food products were strengthened, the network of border inspection points was constructed and important information systems were worked out, meant for the National Food Safety Agency.
