Moldovan PM meets two U.S. senators

Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - Solutions to overcome the crises triggered by the environment of regional insecurity, as well as the priorities of the Moldovan-American dialogue have been discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and U.S. senators Steven Daines and Robert Portman in Washington, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

The officials referred to the measures undertaken by the Moldovan cabinet, in order to attenuate the effects of the war on the well-being of the citizens and to the practical ways to back Moldova to ensure the stability and economic and energy resilience.  

In discussions, the PM noted that the U.S. assistance was necessary for ensuring continuous processes of Moldova’s modernization and the recent carrying out of the bilateral strategic dialogue reaffirmed the importance of the promotion of a solid partnership, meant to contribute to the promotion of democracy, security and prosperity of Moldova.    

„As the agenda of reforms and the process accession to the European Union advances, we need more and more support on behalf of our partners. Even if Moldova is seriously hit by the crisis in the region, we work for carrying out these goals and we are grateful for the assistance the USA is providing to this end,’’ the prime minister stressed.  

The American senators said that the USA would further back the efforts of the country’s transformation, of attenuating the consequences of the armed conflict in Ukraine and management of crises. In this context, the sides exchanged opinions on measures of strengthening the energy security and consolidation of the national energy system.
