Chisinau, August 10 /MOLDPRES/- The identification of opportunities to recruit agricultural students in the practical training process was the main topic discussed today by Iurie Scripnic, state secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) and rector of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) Viorel Bostan, at a meeting with a foreign investor who initiated a business in the animal husbandry sector, in the Drochia district.

The discussions were focused on identifying opportunities to recruit students from the agricultural profile in the process of practical training, so that young people can more easily integrate into the work process and learn the necessary skills in the specialized activity, both through the formation of theoretical and practical knowledge , as well as through research.

Iurie Scripnic mentioned that the ministry, together with relevant institutions, set as its goal the revitalization of the livestock sector and increasing its competitiveness.

"Against the background of the decrease in production in the livestock sector and in the context of the crisis of specialists in the field, we are currently focused on encouraging investments in the sector. On the labor market, the requirements are increasingly demanding regarding the professional training of young specialists. That is why the authorities are in the process of reforming higher agricultural education, to ensure the modernization of studies and to exploit the potential of digital technologies in agricultural sciences. With the start of the new academic year, we want to strengthen partnerships with the business environment and expand opportunities for students," the official said.

Following structural reforms in education, research and innovation, approved this summer by the Government, the Technical University of Moldova will merge with the State Agrarian University of Moldova and three other research institutes. The aim is to strengthen the strategic sectors of the national economy and to attract as many students as possible in the most important and current fields, such as Engineering and Agricultural Sciences.
