Over 3,000 trees evacuated due to bad weather in Chisinau

Chisinau, August 15 /MOLDPRES/- More than 3000 trees in the capital were evacuated following the bad weather of last week. The announcement was made today by the head of the Municipal Enterprise Association of management of green spaces, Victoria Covali, during the operational meeting of the municipal services.

According to the official, following the cutting and evacuation works, more than 370 cubic meters of wood were collected. "Workers are currently carrying out cleaning work in the courtyards of the blocks. Specialists have established that following the rain and strong wind, the condition of the trees is very precarious. If there are new cataclysms, the consequences can be serious. That is why, in a short time, we will carry out new cleaning and clearing works", said Victoria Covali.

At the same time, Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban said he had signed the order convening the meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, which will allocate 20 million lei (about 1 million euros) for the liquidation of the consequences of the bad weather.

"In the following days, work will begin on the roofs of the residential blocks. At the same time, interventions will be carried out in the flooded apartments. Repair work will be carried out in the homes. During this period, the families will be accommodated at a placement center in the capital", said Ceban.

The municipal authorities announced that they are currently continuing the cleaning work of the courtyards of the blocks. At the same time, interventions are carried out on the electrical network. The consequences of the bad weather are to be liquidated by the end of this week.
