First beneficiaries of European Village Program signed financing contracts

Chisinau, August 16 /MOLDPRES/- The first 53 beneficiaries of the European Village National Local Development Program signed the financing contracts. Their value is around 195 million lei, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) announced today.

Out of the total number, 17 are projects for the construction, renovation/rehabilitation of public buildings, including through measures to improve the energy efficiency (increasing the energy performance) of public buildings. "There are also 16 projects for the construction and reconstruction of sports buildings, including buildings intended for the development of social services intended for the population from socially vulnerable groups (care centers for children, the elderly and people with special needs), including medical infrastructure" , indicates MIDR.

12 projects provide for the construction/extension/rehabilitation/modernization of water supply, water treatment and sewage systems, intended for public objectives of local interest; five projects are for the installation of public lighting; two are for the restoration/rehabilitation/reconstitution/conservation of specific historical monuments/structures for traditional rural architecture in a certain area, intended for public purposes and one project provides for the development of general urban plans.

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu announced in March about the launch of the national local development European Village program. This year, the program has a budget of 470 million lei. Another 300 million lei from the program were allocated to the regional development project. On August 11, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development announced that all the procedures had been completed to start the implementation works of the projects selected under the European Village program.
