Parliament to support reforming, modernizing Intelligence and Security Service

Chisinau, Aug. 17 /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu had a meeting today with director of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) Eduard Raul Hellvig, which was attended by head of the Commission for National Security, Defense and Public Order Lilian Carp, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The sides discussed the complicated regional situation and the security risks.
Also, they highlighted the urgent need to reform the security services sector in the Republic of Moldova, which can respond promptly and decisively to new challenges and counter risks and threats to the state.
Parliament, through the National Security, Defense and Public Order Commission, will support the process of reforming and modernizing the Intelligence and Security Service, so that we have an independent, strong institution capable of providing security to citizens and the country.
