Anniversary exhibition dedicated to Moldovan academician inaugurated in Chisinau

Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Mihail Kogalniceanu National Literature Museum, in partnership with the Bogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu Romanian Philology Institute of the Moldovan State University (USM) and the Writers’ Union of Moldova, on 6 September organized an anniversary exhibition titled, Mihai Cimpoi, Man- Destiny. 80th Birthday Anniversary.    

Attending the event, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan highly appreciated Cimpoi’s literary and scientific activity and awarded him the Honorary Diploma of the Culture Ministry. ‘’I feel honoured to participate in the inauguration of the jubilee exhibition, Mihai Cimpoi, Man- Destiny. 80th birthday anniversary, today. This is an exceptional event organized by the Mihail Kogalniceanu National Literature Museum,’’ the official stressed.   

Academician, literary critic and historian, knower of Mihai Eminescu’s works,  philosopher of culture, university professor, Merited Man, laureate of State Prize of Moldova Mihai Cimpoi was born in the Larga commune, Hotin county, presently Briceni district, in 1942. In 1965, Cimpoi graduated from the Philology Faculty of the Moldovan State University.  Mihai Cimpoi signed over 70 volumes. Cimpoi was awarded the title of Master of Literature (1992), the State Prize (1994), the Order of the Republic (1996), the jubilee medal Mihai Eminescu (Romania, 2000), the National Order "Steaua României", in rank of Commander (2014), with the "Order of Faithful Service" in the rank of Knight of Romania, etc. He is an Honorary Doctor of the Universities of Tiraspol, Balti and Chisinau (Republic of Moldova), Oradea, Alba Iulia (Romania), Emeritus of the Republic of Moldova (2013).    Mihai Cimpoi, critic și istoric literar, eminescolog, filosof al culturii, profesor
