Moldovan PM attends opening of America Days holiday

Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today afternoon participated in the opening of the event, America Days, held on the Pedestrian Street from Moldova’s capital. Attending the event were U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Kent Logsdon and the assistant administrator of the United States Agency for International Development for Europe and Eurasia, Erin McKee, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

In the opening of the event, Natalia Gavrilita referred to the diplomatic and friendship relations between the USA and Moldova, both based on a solid foundation of the democratic values and Moldova’s wish to be part of the free world. The PM thanked for the support provided by the American nation in all key sectors.  

„Ever since the first year of independence, the United States of America has been with us not only in words, but in deeds. Through its projects, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) came up with concrete and visible improvements in the life of tens and hundreds of communities. Either we speak about investments in roads, or through education and creation centres, or due to the support provided to digitalization and innovation, our partners have contributed to Moldova’s development,’’ the prime minister said.   

The PM also said that, on this period of uncertainty, the friendship with the United States represented a priceless anchor. ‘’We have confirmation that we can rely on the experience and support of the American government and nation in the reestablishment of the rule of law state, in the consolidation of the economy and entrepreneurship, in improving the quality of public services or in the strengthening of security,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.  

America Days is at its second edition and is meant to mark the 30th anniversary of partnership between the United States and Moldova. The participants in the event will enjoy American music, films, sports and traditional dishes.
