Moldovan electoral body warned political formations on compliance with financial management in electoral campaign

Chisinau, 28 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) warned several political formations on compliance with financial management in the electoral campaign for the new local elections of 16 October.

The CEC took note of the reports and information on financing of the electoral campaign for 12–16 September and 17–23 September, presented by the electoral contestants. Thus, the representatives of the Action and Solidarity Party, the Party of Socialists, the Dignity and Truth Platform and the Party of Change were warned about compliance with the legal provisions regarding the information about the opening or non-opening of the account and/or the information about the non-existence of financial transactions.

At the same time, for violating the way of financial support in the electoral campaign by preparing promotional materials and starting the campaign before the deadline, the CEC sanctioned as a warning the Dignity and Truth Platform. Also, the formation was obliged to present until today the report on the financing of the electoral campaign for 17-23 September or the information on the non-opening of the bank account with the mention Electoral Fund and the carrying out of campaign activities that do not involve financial expenses.

According to the CEC, all electoral candidates have the legal obligation to inform the Commission about the opening of the bank account, Electoral Fund, within three days after registration in the electoral race. The electoral contestant who does not open a bank account informs the Central Electoral Commission about this and only carries out campaign or electoral promotion activities that do not involve financial expenses.

In all, six electoral candidates were registered for the new local elections for the position of mayor. On 16 October new local elections will be held in three localities in the country - Sălcuța village (Căușeni district), Ialpujeni (Cimișlia) and Braniște (Râșcani).
