Moldovan government delivers new consignment of humanitarian assistance to Ukraine

Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 17 trucks loaded with humanitarian assistance left for Ukraine today. The consignment is provided by Moldova’s government and is to reach the Odessa city, in order to be subsequently distributed in the Mykolaiv region.  

According to the Interior Ministry (MAI), the donation includes assets worth over 21 million lei (about one million euros), managed by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) and the Labour and Social Protection Ministry. The assets have been earlier received as humanitarian assistance for the management of refugees’ crisis.    

The trucks crossed the border at the Palanca-Mayaki Udobnoye border checkpoint. Attending the event were Interior Minister Ana Revenco and Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu.    

„The Ukrainian nation knows that we are by its side and that it can rely on Moldova when it needs help. We thank this time again the Ukrainians for resisting to challenges and fighting for their country with so much courage,’’ Ana Revenco said.

For his part, Nicu Popescu „firmly condemned the annexations by Russia of Ukrainian regions.’’ At the same time, he expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people.  

The consignment delivered to the authorities of Ukraine as international assistance contains tents, beds, mattresses, heaters for tents, sleeping bags, hygienic packages, medical masks and food products. IGSU employees have earlier escorted 22 trucks with batches of humanitarian aid, provided by Moldova’s government for Ukrainian citizens.
