Moldovan foreign minister visits Egypt for first time

Chisinau, Oct. 11 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration pays a visit to Cairo today. This is the first visit of a high-ranking official from our country to the Arab Republic of Egypt since the establishment of Moldovan-Egyptian diplomatic relations on 13 February 1992.

According to the MAEIE public diplomacy, strategic communication and media relations service, Popescu will have meetings with Egyptian Senate President Abdel Wahab Abdel Razeq, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Hassan Shoukry and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhi.

The visit will be an opportunity to address concrete ways of strengthening cooperation between our countries, as well as to express the firm will of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to diversify political, economic and sectoral cooperation.

At the end of the bilateral consultations, the officials will hold joint press statements.

Popescu's program also includes participation in the Egypt-Moldova Economic Forum, which takes place on the occasion of the working visit of the national delegation. The event is organized by the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, USAID Moldova and will bring together representatives of the business environment from both countries. 20 representatives of the business environment from the Republic of Moldova are participating in the economic forum in Cairo.

The official delegation also includes Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy Vadim Gumene, general director of the National Food Safety Agency Radu Musteata.
