Last day of electoral agitation for new local polls due in Moldova on 16 October is 14 October

Chisinau, 14 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) warns that today is the last day when actions of electoral agitation are allowed for the new local polls, due on 16 October.

Under the provisions of the Electoral Code, the electoral agitation is strictly banned on the day of the elections and the day before it. On this period, neither the presence of candidates for elections at TV and radio programmes is allowed. The prohibition is not applied to the information already placed on the Internet and the earlier displayed posters.

At the same time, the electoral contenders cannot make transfers to/from the account titled, Electoral Fund.

The continuation of the electoral agitation by mass media, electoral contenders and citizens on the aforementioned days represents administrative contravention and is sanctioned with fine worth from 15 to 30 conventional units, imposed against private person or fine worth from 35 to 50 conventional units, imposed to the person holding office or electoral contender, according to CEC.

New local elections will be held on the next Sunday in three settlements of Moldova: Salcuta village, Causeni district, Ialpujeni commune, Cimislia district and Braniste commune, Rascani district.
