Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - A working meeting of the political representatives in the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement on behalf of Chisinau, Oleg Serebrian, and on behalf of Tiraspol, Vitaly Ignatyev, today took place at the headquarters of the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol, at Chisinau’s initiative. Attending the event were delegates of the participants in the 5+2 format of talks, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The main subject of the discussions was the energy crisis and the vulnerabilities to which the residents of both banks of Dniester are subjected, in the context of an essential decrease in the volumes of energy resources supplied. This imposes the taking of quick measures of energy security and efficiency, identifying alternative ways of filling the deficits recorded and coordinating the measures jointly. The sides accepted the need to maintain a permanent interaction at the level of competent experts and to undertake actions necessary.
The Chisinau’s political representative also tackled the difficulties presently faced by the Evrica Theoretical Lyceum from Rabnita, which in the last two months has not been able to pay the invoices for utilities (water, sewerage, consumption of energy resources, etc.). In this respect, the Tiraspol side gave assurances that needed clarifications would be made and the problem would be overcome.
The chief negotiator on behalf of Tiraspol re-approached aspects from the banking sector and regarding the implementation of the mechanism of carrying out payments for commercial transactions made by companies from the Transnistrian region, approved under the Instruction by the Commission for Emergency Situations No 29 from 28 June 2022. Ignatyev noted that sectoral experts would convene at meetings to discuss technical elements in the near future.
As for the issue of import of various categories of goods in the Transnistrian region (medicines, food products, etc.), the sides repeated the need of observing the rigours prescribed by the legal framework in force, recording in the national specialty registers and complying with the quality and security standards in force.
The sides agreed that, on the next period, new working meetings of political representatives would be organized, including jointly with the coordinators of sectoral working groups.
