European Commission to provide Moldova with support worth 52 million euros

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and the European Commission will sign two agreements on non-refundable financial assistance for the country worth 52 million euros in all. The cabinet, at a today’s meeting, approved a draft for initiating negotiations, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The agreement on financing on the EU for Reforms Programme envisages the providing of a grant worth 27 million euros to Moldova. The priority sectors for European assistance are the policies and programmes on population and reproductive health, governance and civil society, peace and security.
Among the priorities of the agreement on financing of the EU for Recovery and Resilience Programme, there are: resilient, sustainable and integrated economy; resilience in terms of environment and climate changes; resilient, fair societies and friendly for inclusion. The value of the agreement is 25 million euros, which will also be provided as grant.
Taking into account the unpredictable consequences of the war in Ukraine, both agreements regard also the approaching of the immediate needs of the residents hit, consolidation of the resilience and capacity of response to the impact triggered by the war.
The Agreements on Financing are to be signed by Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi on behalf of Moldova and Deputy Director General in charge of the Eastern Neighbourhood Lawrence Meredith on behalf of the European Commission.
