Moldova's National Energy Regulatory Agency increases tariffs for electric energy

21:05 | 02.11.2022 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Administrative Board of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), at a today’s extraordinary meeting, considered and approved the regulated prices for electric energy, delivered by the universal service provider and the provider of last resort.

Thus, as a result of a thorough analysis of data presented by providers, ANRE approved the following regulated prices on supply of electric energy by the Premier Energy state-owned enterprise, differentiated depending on the points of delimitation or the consumption places of the end consumers:

4.13 lei/kWh for the electric energy provided at the points of entrance in the transport electricity networks; 4.28 lei/kWh – at the points of exit from the transport electricity networks; 4.30 lei/Kwh for the end consumers, whose installations are connected to the high-tension power distribution networks (35-110 KV), 4.43 lei/KWh - medium-tension power distribution networks (6–10 kV); 4.77 lei/KWh - low-tension power distribution networks (0.4 kV).

The following differentiated regulated prices were approved for the North Electric Energy Supply stock company: 3.87 lei/KWh for the electric energy provided at the points of entrance in the transport electricity networks; 4.01 lei/Kwh - at the points of exit from the transport electricity networks; 4.20 lei/Kwh for the end consumers, whose installations are connected to the medium-tension power distribution networks (6–10 kV); 4.81 lei/KWh – low-tension (0.4 kV).

The new regulated prices will enforced as of 4 November 2022, the date of their publication in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).

The main reasons which triggered the urgent adjusting of prices for the electric energy provided to consumers are as follows: interruption of the contracts on purchasing electric energy from Ukraine, in the wake of the bombardment during last October and destruction of the Ukrainian electric energy infrastructure by Russia at the level of 50 per cent; refusal by the Dnestrovsk power plant (MGRES) to extend the contract on supply of electric energy for Moldova and the full ceasing of the deliveries starting from 1 November 2022; reorientation of the purchasing of volumes of 80 per cent of the needed electric energy from the European market; significant increase in the price of electricity purchased from the European space, which directly influences the average price calculated.
