Moldovan National Youth Orchestra first ever appears in symphonic jazz album

Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan National Youth Orchestra has cooperated, for the first time ever, at the recording of an album of symphonic jazz of Elena Mindru – a Romanian artist who lives in Finland. The album is suggestively titled Hybrid and includes her own compositions, Romanian and Finnish carols and songs.    

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the Orchestra’s conductor, Andriano Marian, said that he was happy to announce the first album in which the Moldovan Youth Orchestra is found – Hybrid, made by Elena Mindru Turunen. ‘’This is a delicious album, which combines carols, Romanian and Finnish music, which was recorded during a hybrid (!) live concert in October 2020 – a first ever event of the European jazz. We can say with confidence that this is a good beginning towards the international promotion of the orchestra through digital instruments,’’ the conductor of the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra noted.    

Elena Mindru is one of the best appreciated and well-known voices, which got prizes, from the Romanian generation of young jazz musicians. She is holder of the prize II at Montreux Shure Voice Jazz Competition – one of the most prestigious specialized competitions in the world. In parallel with her career as soloist, Elena Mindru is executive director of Oulun Musiikkijuhlat – one of the most important festivals from Finland.         

Singer Elena Mindru for the first time ever will give concert in Moldova on 21 December, at Pop Simfonic 8 concert, at the Nicolae Sulac National Palace. Also, an original jazz concert is scheduled in cooperation with Cristian Chiaburu (TBD) for 22 December.

The Hybrid album is co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund of Romania.
