Chisinau, Nov. 22 /MOLDPRES/- Rehabilitation works of the Cultural-Natural Reserve Orheiul Vechi started on 21 November in Butuceni, which will be carried out with financial support from the sources of the National Regional and Local Development Fund (FNDRL). The Center Regional Development Agency (ADR) is responsible for implementation of the project.

Rehabilitation works began with the building of the block with a multifunctional conference room, offices and warehouses. At the same time, the project will carry out conservation works and access development for visitors, including people with special needs, to the tourist attractions of the Reserve. Next comes the consolidation and preservation of the medieval Bath, reconstruction works of the defense wall and the medieval fortification system with exhibition halls.

The contract for the project was signed in late October, and provides for the execution of the works within 14 months. The value of the planned works is about 27 million lei (about 1.35 million euros), money that will be granted from the FNDRL.

According to ADR Centru, by achieving the proposed objectives, the aim is to increase the sustainable valorization of the cultural heritage, to highlight the architectural heritage, as well as to modernize the existing infrastructures. "This will condition the considerable increase in the flow of visitors to the area, a fact that will have a beneficial impact on the local community, will support the economic agents in the region and respectively increase the contribution to the local and national budget", summarizes the quoted source.
