Chisinau, Nov. 24 /MOLDPRES/- The Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) announced today that it has completed the criminal investigation on director and sales manager of a tourism company, who harmed more than 100 customers with about 4.6 million lei (about 231,000 euros).
The two accused are aged 55 and 32 and lured customers with attractive prices and exotic destinations. Later, the company cited various reasons why they could not facilitate the promised travel and tourist stay, including the pandemic, various technical errors or that the money transferred would not have been received. In 2021, however, defrauded customers began to file complaints, and recently, the company ceased operations.
According to the Criminal Code, the fraud committed in these circumstances is punishable by imprisonment from eight to 15 years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to exercise a certain activity for a term of up to 5 years.
