Moldovan government, United Nations Sustainable development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027

Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/ - The government and the United Nations Organization have signed the UN- Moldova 2023-2027 Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). This is a firm commitment to extend the joint cooperation and to multiply the already achieved results, in order to contribute to the removing of obstacles to the more inclusive social and economic development, in accordance with the national priorities described in the European Moldova 2030 National Development Strategy, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Cooperation Framework was worked out by 24 UN agencies and entities, under the guidance of the UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova and in cooperation with the cabinet. The general vision of the Cooperation Framework is to ensure a country where people want to live, fully exercising their rights and benefiting from a better quality of life in a more inclusive and more resilient society. This premise can be got, only if the country’s prosperity is accessed by all citizens and if the most vulnerable and marginalized citizens are empowered to exercise their rights and significantly participate in all spheres of life.
While recognizing the complexity of the national context of development, which faces challenges varying from economic crisis to energy insecurity, the system United Nations and Moldova’s government defined four strategic priorities:
(1) Just institutions and equal opportunities for human development;
(2) Participatory governance and social cohesion;
(3) Enhancing the joint prosperity into a sustainable economy;
(4) Ecological development, sustainable communities and resilience to disasters and to climate changes.
The implementation of the Cooperation Framework will contribute to getting of results in more topic-related fields, including; education, agro-food system, migration, governance, decent work, social services, economy’s competitiveness, energy and environment. These actions will facilitate Moldova’s integration into the European Union and will contribute to the improvement of the living standards, generating over 200 million dollars as non-refundable financing.
The Cooperation Framework was elaborated based on ample consultations, in which more than 4,000 people had participated.
