Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Energocom stock company today informed that the weighted average price for 1 MWh of electric energy purchased from Romania’s exchange during one month had stood at 231 euros.

Since Energocom has started buying electricity from OPCOM ( Romanian state’s company set up for the liberalization of the electric energy market), the enterprise during one month purchased electric energy worth 51.6 million euros in all. These daily procurements represent two thirds of Moldova’s needs, being also the most costly acquisitions in the field, according to the enterprise.

„Till not so long ago, Moldova has had access to cheap source of energy; yet, the war from Ukraine and the limiting of the volumes of gas delivered to Moldova obliged us to identify other sources and the closest market is the one of Romania,’’ the acting director of the Energocom stock company, Victor Binzari, said.

According to Binzari, all prices are transparent on OPCOM. All producers of electric energy sell at the same price to OPCOM and subsequently OPCOM sells this energy to buyers. Everybody pays the same price for each interval of time. The OPCOM prices have been increasing on the last days, just as in all European countries. First of all, it is about seasonal factors – the demand is growing closer to the winter. Also, the war in Ukraine and the hitting of the energy system from the neighbor country disturbed the prices in the region.

To have access to the electric energy market of Romania, SA Energocom had to open a branch, to get the trading licence from the Romanian National Authority for Energy Regulations (ANRE), to have accounts and bank guarantees at one of the Romanian banks, to register on the balancing market, to sign contracts with carriers, to register on the platform of reserving the cross-border capacities and to register at the exchange. The licence got in a EU country facilitates the registration on other markets from the member countries. Now, SA Energocom is in procedure of getting licence in Bulgaria, being always interested in other markets of the region as well. Besides, the enterprise seeks to identify also other partners for signing bilateral contracts.
