International Book Saloon for Children and Youth reaches 24th edition in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/ - The International Book Saloon for Children and Youth, organized in Chisinau since 1997, is held again on the eve of the winter holidays, after a break of two years, caused by the pandemic crisis. Thus, on 1-4 December, the 24th edition of the aforementioned Saloon will be staged at the MOLDEXPO International Exhibition Centre.     

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Eugenia Bejan, the director of the Ion Creanga National Library for Children, one of the event’s organizers, said that the action represented the time and place where each one can find a perfect present for the beloved – a book! The saloon will open on 1 December at 10:00 and will be able to be visited for free on 1-3 December during 10:00-18:00 and on 4 December during 10:00-17:00.   

According to Bejan, 17 exhibitors, publishing houses and book distributors participate in the current issue of the saloon. They suggest a rich supply of more than 50,000 books for children and young people in diverse languages, fiction and non-fiction.

The International Book Saloon for Children and Youth is a project organized by the National Section of the International Board on Books for Young People, with the financial support of the Culture Ministry and in partnership with the Ion Creanga National Library for Children, Editors’ Union, Writers’ Union, Fine Artists’ Union, MOLDEXPO International Exhibition Centre.     

The project’s goal is to stimulate the interest in reading and knowledge through the turning to good account and promotion of books for children and youth both nationally and internationally, as well as through backing and promoting writers, illustrators, translators, editors.
