Top European bank to allocate 100 million euros for roads' rehabilitation in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - Over 85 km of roads will be rehabilitated within the Roads’ Rehabilitation in Moldova IV Project. In this respect, the cabinet approved the amendment of the agreement on loan between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the carrying out of works of construction and rehabilitation of roads in Moldova from 28 June 2013, signed in Chisinau on 11 November 2022, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

The agreement on amendment envisages the providing of an additional loan worth 100 million euros for the full implementation of the Roads’ Rehabilitation in Moldova IV Project.

The amendments made will allow restoring over 85 km of road, on the following segments:

Road R14, R6 – Codrul Nou – Soroca – Unguri – border with  Ukraine, on the segment Soroca – Arionesti, 31 km in all;
road R8.1, R8 – Arionesti – R14, segment Arionesti – Otaci, 9.4 km in all;
road M3 Chisinau – Comrat – Giurgiulesti – border with Romania, segment of bypassing the Vulcanesti town, 8.58 km in all;
road R33 Hancesti – Lapusna – M1, including the technical supervision of these works, 37.2 km in all.

The rehabilitation of the infrastructure objects will facilitate the citizens’ access to the road transport and will enhance road traffic’s safety. At the same time, this will improve the state and quality of the national roads’ network, through reducing the costs of the road transport for the users of roads from Moldova, which will generate, indirectly, an economic growth.
